Lightspeed import — full guide
For traders using Lightspeed Trader (desktop) and the lightspeed.com web blotter.
The official way — and an optional shortcut
For Lightspeed there is one official import (Source B) plus one optional same-day shortcut (Source A). For most users, Source B alone is all they need.
- Source B — web blotter CSV (the official way): downloaded from lightspeed.com. It is the authoritative, complete record with all commissions and fees, but it only appears the day after your trades (after clearing). This is all you really need.
- Source A — desktop export (optional, same day): exported directly from Lightspeed Trader right after the close. Its only purpose is to let you import and document a trade the same day, while the memory is fresh — a nice-to-have, not a requirement, and it may still be missing some fees.
If you use both, the journal automatically merges Source B into the trades you already brought in from Source A once it becomes available — your notes, tags and screenshots are kept.
Do I need both files?
No. Source B alone is enough and is complete. Source A is optional and only useful if you want your trades in the journal on the same day (Source B only becomes available the next day).
Source A — optional same-day export
1. Show the right columns first
The desktop export only contains the columns that are currently shown in the “Executed or Cancelled Orders” window. Before you save the file, make sure at least these columns are displayed:
- Time
- Symbol
- Side (BOT / SLD / SS / BC)
- Quantity (e.g.
3000/3000= filled/ordered) - Price
- Contra (optional — used as the routing venue)
If a column isn't displayed, it is missing from the file and the import can't read it. To show a column, right-click the column header in the orders window and enable it.
2. Export the file
- In Lightspeed Trader (desktop) open New → Orders.
- Right-click inside the orders window → Save to File.
- Best done right after the close, while the data is still available.
-
Keep the default file name. The trade date is read from it
(
…Orders YYYY-MM-DD.txt) — do not rename the file.
Source B — web blotter (the official import)
- On lightspeed.com go to My Account → Reports → Account → Blotter.
- Pick the date range you want.
- Download the CSV. Available from the next day.
Then load the CSV in the journal under Import. It enriches the matching trades automatically — including the complete commissions and fees.
Lightspeed-Import — komplette Anleitung
Quelle A — optionaler Same-Day-Export
- Time (Uhrzeit)
- Symbol
- Side (BOT / SLD / SS / BC)
- Quantity (z. B.
2. Datei exportieren
- In Lightspeed Trader (Desktop) New → Orders öffnen.
- Rechtsklick im Orders-Fenster → Save to File.
- Auf lightspeed.com: My Account → Reports → Account → Blotter.
- Gewünschten Zeitraum wählen.
- CSV herunterladen.
